"Thanks, Annie I'll meet you outside in a half hour."
The sound of Layla Livaland's voice rang as she hopped out of her older cousins navy cherokee jeep side door. She waved goodbye then crossed her arms as she ran inside the local tack shop in Whispering Sycamores to seek shelter from the own pour of snow and wind from outside. Layla heard the car zoom out of the parking lot as the door rang its bell when she walked in. Only a couple of people lurked the tack shops interior as she wiped her shoes on the mat in the entrance then walked in. A friendly smile welcomed her as she began to pick up items as she strolled down the isle. She waved to the clerks then began to pick out little items for herself and also items to give to the stables hands, her sister, friends, and her boyfriend Clayton for christmas. She only had a week to go before Christmas was here and then she wouldn't have time to gather the gifts. Instead she told Annie she needed a ride to grab some things at the tack shop for Monte her bucksin gelding.
A couple minutes later she had gone through all of the small items and was moving on to the tack. Bridles, girths, saddles, martingales everything that you might need for riding your horse was there and she made her way down the isle. It was a good thing she had saved up alot of money in the past year from working around for Annie at the barn. A leather halter caught her eye as she looked towards the deep maple brown show halter. She knew that Apollo needed a new one and since Apollo was Annie's horse she thought she might get that for her. She looked at the tag that read the price and gulped as she read it. Fifty dollars! She put it back down and shook her head know way she would pay that amount of money for a halter.

Shivering slightly, Delia crossed her arms against her chest, and walked across the street. She shivered as she opened the door, and stepped inside the tack store. She was planning on buying a few gifts for people. Her eyes scanned her surroundings, and she carefully took the aisle with the least amount of customers. She had plenty of money in her pocket, enough to buy gifts for whoever, not that she knew anyone.. As she walked down the aisle, she spotted some halters, and headed in that direction. She eyed them all before picking up a small, foal sized soft supple leather one. She gazed longinly at the deep brown, almost red leather halter, and then read the tag again..Fifteen Dollars... "Oh well, Secret's foal does deserve the best.." She said aloud, and hung the small halter on her arm. More likely than not, the foal would be born before Christmas, and even if it wasn't, it would be nice to have the halter to put on it anyways. It would fit her, since she was going to have a rather large head, her mother being a Gypsy Vanner and all. Looking at the other halters, she spotted another one that a girl had just set down, and picked up up. It was a beautiful halter, and she considered getting it for Crystal, her family's friend, until she saw the price tag. There was no way she could pay that for the halter, she needed to save her money for other things.

Layla kept browsing until she spotted a nice looking and better priced show halter, on the tag it read $25 which was reasonabley priced and also quite cheap from the looks of the brand it came from. The shelf above had nameplates on them and Layla took several until one fit the side of the leather pony halter, she knew that the new mare that Annie had adopted needed one. She picked it up then kept going down the isle and almost bumped into another girl, older than she but pretty. Probally around Annie's age, or younger after all Annie was just 22 years old and was pretty successful in her carreer already this girl looked around that age and by the way she had picked up some horse gear Annie knew she must have a horse, well so did everyone who came here.
"Oh, sorry" She replied to the almost collision and smiled sweatly looking down at the nice looking foal halter in the girls hand. Must be expecting some foals, no doubt Annie's dropped by here for that too. Layla noticed the girl pick up the halter that she too had looked at then probally noticed the price and set it down. Layla spotted some bits half price and considered getting the snaffle bit she needed for her buckskin medium sized pony Monte.

"I's Okay.." Delia told her shyly, before she noticed her gaze fall on the foal halter.."My mare's due.." She told her, in an almost whisper. Her mexican accent was evident. Her english was a little broken, but she was speaking it better every day, at least on the days she spoke. She was just too shy around people she didn't know, though once she knew you she loved to talk.. It was just so hard to ignore what had happened in her past.."She's Gypsy Vanner..." Delia blurted, for some reason she felt like she needed to talk to this girl who seemed very polite.. Delia just hoped she wouldn't make fun of her being a Mexican, she had grown tired of being teased about that. She steped further dow the aisle and eyed some of the bits. One was a very fancy straight western bit, with engravings of horses on the side. She looked at the price tag, and could't belive her luck.. the bit was only fifteen dollars, and well worth it. She knew the friend she rented her room from would love it, and it would make a wonderful Christmas present for Sierra...
OOC: By the way, Delia is only 16^^

[Oh my bad, i thought it was the other one ha layla's 15.]
Layla smiled back to the girl, who replied shyly. It's okay.. She said in a rather low and barely above a whisper. She must of known that Layla was looking at the halter, My mare's due.. the girl said in a mexican accent but still english. She's Gypsy Vanner... Layla nodded her head, Annie's friend owned a gyspy vanner stallion he was deffinately handsome. "Oh wow, they're really georgous." Annie said as she picked up the snaffle bit then looked through for the events where she needed a stronger bit for cross country. She found a full cheek bit and looked over the price, then realised the girl was looking at a fancy looking western bit.
"Thats nice looking, I've only ridden western like twice but its fun. I take it you do?" She asked in her normal almost western twane voice from living in the country in her early years. Some would think of it as a hill billy tone but when you grew up in southern states you deffinately get the accent of one.

"Yeah..If. If you like you can come meet her sometime, she's a rescue, when I got her she was pregnant and I didn't know it.." Delia told her shyly. She smiled shyly, and rubbed her hand across the bit, making sure there wasn't any sharp edges on it anywhere." I rent a room from a family friend.. You probably know her, Crystal Brookes? I have hardly ever rode, I have rode a little of each though..Secret isn't really in shape to ride right now, she is kinda due any day.." Delia whispered, still barely loud enough for the girl to hear. She was surprised the girl didn't care about her being Mexican, and was a little relived. She didn't have any issues about where others were from, and she didn't understand why others would hate where she was from so much. If they really knew how happy she had been, and understood just how close her family was they would not be so cruel."Maybe you could bring your horse? My friend would let me ride hers..." Delia blushed deeply, surprised at herself for speaking so freely.

Layla picked up the bit, taking her finger and gliding across to seek any sharp places that might hurt the horse but she found none put it in the hand that held the halter. Yeah..If. If you like you can come meet her sometime, she's a rescue, when I got her she was pregnant and I didn't know it.. The girl replied and Layla looked back towards her, a smile grew on her face. "I'd love too, it sounds fun." Layla said as she spotted some horse stalkings and decided to grab a couple for the new horses in the barn. There was also a large bag of rounders that would make any horses Christmas special. She looked at the price then decided to come back for the bag when she had finished since it was pretty heavy.
I rent a room from a family friend.. You probably know her, Crystal Brookes? I have hardly ever rode, I have rode a little of each though..Secret isn't really in shape to ride right now, she is kinda due any day.. Layla thought for a moment, then remembered the new neighbors that had moved in a couple days ago. She thought for a moment saying her last name outloud a couple times before rembering the name. "Oh yeah I know her, she lives a five minutes away from my cousins farm where I live." She said with a smile as she looked back at the girl.
Maybe you could bring your horse? My friend would let me ride hers... Layla nodded her head, then thought for a moment wondering if Annie would let her go with one of the new school horses. After all Lacey the new school horse at the barn that Annie had gotten from the adoption center needed to be worked since she needed some time out on the roads it would be good for her to see something new. "Yeah deffinately, you can come to my cousins barn too if you'd like. Greenridge Acres down the road its the eventing farm, we've got a foal on the way too, and I'm sure she wouldn't mind if you rode one of the school horses." Layla paused as she looked at a hunt coat, she thought of her friend who needed one and looked at the price seeing that it was fairly cheap and would fit her well. She grabbed it off the rack and held it as she turned back to the girl.
"By the way, I'm Layla Livaland. Most call me Elle your welcome to call me either." She said in a friendly voice the girl seemed shy and she was detirmened to break that. "I would shake your hand, but my hands are a little full." She joked and put her things in one hand balancing them before putting a hand out to shake the girls. "I guess I managed." She joked. She was the type who would make a total stranger feel like they knew her their whole life, she was open and didn't care what people said and thats why most people enjoyed being with her.

"Thanks, sounds like fun.."Delia told her, speaking a little louder now. Her accent was more hearable now,and she hoped the girl could easily understand her. "I'd love to.. My name's Delia, Delia Rose." She shook the girl's hand, and smiled shyly, trying to show she really did appreciate her sense of humor. "How about tomorrow.. If it's nice anyways.."Delia told her, gesturing at the nasty weather outside."I have passed your cousin's farm. It is very beautiful and large..There is also a foal at our barn already, her name is Navajo. You would like her.." delia told her softly, as she looked at the lead ropes. Picking up a soft nylong one, she examined the clip on it. It was very well made, and was in a beautiful deep blue, with green twisted into it. The price was cheap as well, so she decided to get it for Navajo, Crystal's eight month old Foxtrotter filly."Your very kind to invite me to your cousin's farm, are you sure she won't mind me?" Delia asked cautiously, trying to word it properly. She hoped the girl would understand what she meant, she didn't want her cousin angry with her because she brought a Mexican and invited her to ride her horses...

Thanks, sounds like fun.. The girl said more clearly now but still somewhat shy. Layla smiled nodding her head as she found bare back pad that would be great for Annie's older broodmare Legacy who's always been at the farm since the beginning. It was specially made for horses with back problems but since Legacy was usually pregnant it would be good for her old back, even though she didn't have a problem back. The price was okay but it was still alot for that, she shrugged as she looked through the sizes and found the right one. I'd love to.. My name's Delia, Delia Rose. Layla looked back a smile planted on her face. "Nice to meet you Delia."
How about tomorrow.. If it's nice anyways.. Layla nodded her head, "yeah if it turns out like a blizzard tomorrow I'll just stop by another time." She said as she looked outside at the bitter cold weather. It had been snowing off and on harshly and they had a good couple of feet of snow out there. The indoor arena was the only area to ride when it was like this and sometimes the power would go out in the arena so usually it wasn't smart to anyways. I have passed your cousin's farm. It is very beautiful and large..There is also a foal at our barn already, her name is Navajo. You would like her.. Layla smiled knowing that her cousin had spent alot of her savings and the inheritance money from her father when he died. Layla had always lived with the family, her own family wasn't in the greatest state and she found herself at the Bennet's farm a while back now living their fully while her aunt lived back in Florida.
"I'd love to see her tomorrow, we've got a boarder foal and an adopted foal at the farm maybe you could bring Navajo to the farm for her to see some other foals." Layla said as the girl had described the foal at the farm. The baby foal Anne had taken in from the adoption center was a frisky little guy but loved attention, the other foal at the farm was a boarder. A young mustang from the wild named Enigma, he had problems when they got him because of a head injury and he often doesn't know where he's going half the time. He was a weird little guy but a cutie very sweet. Your very kind to invite me to your cousin's farm, are you sure she won't mind me? Delia asked and Layla shook her hand nasalauntly in the air,
"No sweat, Anne will love you! She's kind like me only a calmer you'll like her. You could bring your friend along too, you can stop by sometime this week." She said then realised why the girl had asked the question, she didn't really see why people were so mean to people from different cultures Layla thought it was cool and really brave for people to move into a country and learn their language. She could never do that, even though she was outgoing she was horrible in her French class and she couldn't understand Spanish what so ever. She just wanted to stick to English. "Did you enroll in W.S High School? I go there, if you want I could show you around if you do." She said then noticed herself get a little ahead of the subject and dropped it.

"Nice to meet you too.." Delia smiled, and noticed the bare back pad the girl had." You like bareback?" She asked, gesturing to the pad. Delia herself had only ever been on a horse once bareback, Secret had been standing beside the fence, and Delia had slipped onto her back. The mare hadn't minded one bit,and had stood there calmly for a moment before walking around a bit. Delia had been a little scared, but all had gone well. "Maybe, Navajo is a very sweet foal and would enjoy a visit. Crystal would probably love to come as well." Delia picked began searching the aisles again, looking for anything else she needed to buy."Do you know much about Foals?" She asked, a slightly hopeful tone to her voice. She was curious, she had never been around a mare about to have a foal before, and she wanted to know everything she could. "Your sure Annie will be okay?" She asked, before adding."yes, I start school just after winter break. I would like for you to show me around.." Delia told her, smiling kindly. She still felt shy, but this girl seemed like Delia could trust her...

You like bareback? Delia asked and Layla nodded, "Thought I might get if for one of Anne's old broodmare." She said gesturing towards the bareback pad she held in one of her hands. She thought for a minute thinking weather she should put back a bit to save some money. Maybe, Navajo is a very sweet foal and would enjoy a visit. Crystal would probably love to come as well. Delia replied and Layla turned around to face her, the girl was looking down the isle more now and Layla thought for a couple seconds before placing the egg butt bit back on its rack and following the other girl down the isle. "Great," she said as she picked up a pair of wraps on sale and debated buying it.
Do you know much about Foals? Layla turned her gaze back to Delia and nodded her head back and forth. "Yeah, kind of. Anne knows more but I've seen a couple born on the farm, I'm no expert though." She laughed as she set the wraps back down and walked back over to where the treats had sat. Your sure Annie will be okay? Delia asked and Layla nodded her head, "She's really layed back don't worry." Layla said as she set her things down on a shelf and picked them up more organized now then picked up the bag of treats. "Do you have a ride back?" She asked as she walked down the isle with her things in hand and stopped by Delia's side.

"I am sure Annie would love it, anyone liking to ride bareback would." Delia told her kindly. Delia walked down the isle, picking up a brush that someone had apparently placed in the wrong sopt. It was a very well made curry comb, and it was only Five dollars. Figuring they always needed new brushes, Delia figured she would get it. There wasn't anything else she could think of that she needed for Secret right now, and she had found the bit and lead to give to Crystal. Tucking the bit and lead rope under her arm as the other girl came back over, she held ut her hands."You need help?" She offered, smiling kindly at her. "I don't have a ride yet. I am supposed to call when ready, and Crystal will come when she can." Delia told her, smiling at her. Delia walked down the isle, and eyed all the differnt bags of treats. She had already planned on buying some carrots and apples for the the horses at the ranch. Slowly Delia headed toward where she had seen the girl set the bit dow, and picked it up, placing it among her things and hoping the girl wouldn't notice.

Layla nodded her head, "Yeah, I know I love mine." She said as the girl held her hands out You need help? Delia asked and Layla smiled greatfully. "Thanks," she said as she handed her the halter even though it didn't make a dent in what she was carrying. Oh well. I don't have a ride yet. I am supposed to call when ready, and Crystal will come when she can. Layla thought for a moment as the girl walked back to the bits and Layla turned back to her after the girl had picked up something.
"Same here, need a lift? Besides we live right down the rode it wouldn't be that bad." She said as she began to walk towards the cash register her purchases and placed them on the counter. Layla looked back to Delia for an answer as the cashier ran up her items and placed them in bags.

"i would like that, but are you sure it isn't trouble?" Delia asked, smiling as she followed her to the register. She placed the halter up there with the rest of Lyala's, or Ellie as she had asked to be called, things. After hers were checked out, she placed hers up there. When the cashier rang up the bit, she turned and handed it to her, smiling shyly."Early Christmas.." She told her, and picked up the rest of her items after they were placed in bags. Satisfied with what she had bought, she hoped Crstal liked it. She hardly had anyone to buy for, not having any parents or relatives nearby. Her Grandmother would probably not receive the gift, Delia would have to send a letter instead.

Layla nodded her head, "yeah no problem. I'll be outside calling so when your done just come on out." She said as she grabbed the bags off the counter and payed for them. She said thank you and walked outside to where the door was and stood on the steps. She took out her phone and began to dial the numbers of the office in the main barn. Three rings passed and someone picked up the phone. "Greenridge Acres, Ria speeking." A girl on the other line said and Layla shifted the phone to the other here as the wind whipped wildly.
"Hey, Ria its Ellie do you mind grabbing Anne for me please?" She asked as she set the bags down. "Sure thing," The girl said and Layla waited a minute or too before the phone was picked up again "Hello," Layla reconized Annie's voice. "Hey, I'm ready to come home. But do you mind if we bring home a new neighbor too? She lives down the road at the new farm." Layla said as she pursed her lips and looked back into the store. "Yeah, I'll be there in a couple." Annie said before hanging up. Layla put the phone back into her pocket.

Delia paid for her things, and then headed oustide, holding tightly to her one somewhat small bag. She smiled shyly at Ellie, and waited for her to get off the phone."Is she okay?" Delia asked, gesturing to the phone and hoping the girl would understand. She held on tightly to her bag, her eyes glancing around her nervously. Shifting her weight, Delia smiled shyly at Ellie again, though it was clear she was very nervous about getting in the car with a stranger. Sure, Ellie wouldn't know why, But Delia did... She had ahd some very bad experiences with cars and strangers, though they did involve boys...

Annie flipped the phone shut and turned around to face Delia who had come outside. Is she okay? Delia asked and Layla nodded her head. "Yeah, she'll be here in a couple of minutes." She gestured towards a bench on the sidewalk of the street that had been cleared of snow. Luckily the snow wasn't too bad and it was just snow now, no heavy winds. She sat down on the hard wooden bench and turned to Delia.
Minutes later a white jeep cherokee pulled up on the drive and a pretty blonde 21 year old Annie rolled down the side window. She smiled towards Delia and waved before signalling for the two to hop in. "Hey girls, ready to go?" She asked and Layla nodded her head before swinging the side door open and hopping in then looking back to see if Delia was ready.

Smiling shyly, Delia headed toward the bench, only just sitting down before the jeep pulled up. The woman inside seemed fairly nice, but Delia was cautious as she followed Ellie into the car. Settling herself against the now closed door, Delia clutched her bag in her arms, and was practically shaking with nervousness. she was scared out of her witts, but doing her best not to show it. She never was scared to get in a car until that day, but she quickly rrased her thoughts, afraid of breaking down in tears.

Laya set her bags on the floor of the jeep and had buckled her seat belt before turning around to face Delia who sat nervously in the back. She gave her a reasuring smile then looked towards Annie who kept her eyes on the road as the snow was coming down again. "Delia this is my cousin Annie, Annie this is Delia." She said introducing the two before sitting back in her seat and watching Annie smile when looking into the miorrer then back on the road. "Nice to meet you, Delia." She said in her friendly tone as they made their way through the winding roads of town and up a hill into the farmland where farm after farm played through on the sidelines of the road.
"Want me to sit back there with you?" Layla asked signalling for the seat next to Delia. She felt bad that she hadn't sat in the back, after all it was sort of rude. She had turned around and Annie watted her legs for her to turn back. "Thats not safe, imagine what mum would say if she saw you." Annie teased before pulling down the road where their farm and Delia's friends farm was. "By the way, Delia. The farm you live at is Red Maple right? The rescue place? I've been meaning to stop by and introduce myself." She said as she looked back then looked ahead again and Layla had turned around in her seat but had gotten herself into a position where she could see Delia still.

Delia forced a small, shy smile, and nodded.."yeah.. If you..If you like you can now, Crystal is home. It is about time for us to feed the horses as well. If you like you can meet them too." Delia told them, in almost a whisper. She could hardly speak again, more due to being in a car with strangers than because she didn't like Annie and Ellie.. That was far from true, she liked them both. She huddled her bag closer to herself, leaning her head against the window as she watched the farms go by. Up ahead, she could see the arch that was the entrance to Crystal's farm, and there was a sig next to it, with Red Maple Rescue on it. They hadn't gotten anyone out yet to fix the sign.
