Annie thought for a moment as she looked back with a smile then nodded her head. "Sure, we've got time. The horses have already been brought in at the farm so I guess we can stop by." Annie said with a wink as the sign of the farm came into view. She flicked on the blinker and turned into the driveway. Layla nodded her head but looked towards Annie, when she said they would she grinned back at Delia then placed her bag further under the seat so Annie couldn't see them.
Couple seconds later Annie had parked the car and now took out the keys out of the engine and opened the door. Layla hurriedly jumped out of the car and walk to the side where Delia was. She smiled and began to zipper up her north face further, then put her scarf on before looking around. "Nice place," she said as she saw the horses and smiled as she had seen a young foal that looked kind of like Freckles, their young thoroughbred colt.

Delia nodded shyly, and quickly climbed out of her car. As they pulled up, She could see Crystal coming out of the house, and she waved her over.." This is... Is Ellie, and.. Annie.. Our neighbors.." She spoke quietly and sofyly, telling Crystal who they were. Crystal smiled and nodded her head in greeting to the two guests,"Welcome to Red Maple Rescue, I warn you, It isn't much yet.". and getsured toward the barn."Want to meet the gang?" She asked, as she led Delia toward the paddock, where all three horses began running out of the shed, and to the paddock gate. Smiling big now, Delia slipped open the lock, and clipped a lead onto her big mare's halter, leading her out the gate. Navako tried to follow, and Crystal quickly clipped a lead on the filly as she slipped out the gate. She tossed the lead to Delia, who made a small kissing sound as she led them toward the barn. A few moments later, Crystal followed, with Sierra following close behind, her own lead draped across her back. Crystal opened the big overhead door, and Sierra headed in, stopping at the first stall , which had been left open for her, and quickly entering. Delia grinned at her, and handed Navajo over to Crstal, before leading Secret into her stall. She patetdthe mare lovingly before removing her halter and exciting the stall, hanging it on the hook beside the door. Crystal slipped Navajo into her stall,a nd shut the door as the filly protested being locked in the stall. Smiling and laughing, Crystal slipped the halter off of her, and excited as well. She did the same with Sierra."I am glad to see you making friends Delia, you could use someone to ride with you know.." Crystal teased as Delia followed her into the feed room. Delia blushed deeply, and took the bucket Cystal handed her, bringing it to Secret's stall.

This is... Is Ellie, and.. Annie.. Our neighbors.. Delia said to a women walking outside the farm house. Layla and Annie smiled in greeting a waved. "Hello," Annie said in her normal friendly tone that she used from animals to people. "Hi," Layla said a she walked up beside Delia and Annie in the middle. Welcome to Red Maple Rescue, I warn you, It isn't much yet. Annie laughed lightly, "we all start out somewhere." She said as all of them walked towards a paddock where three horses excitedly ran out of their shed and to the gate. Layla smiled and watched the biggest mare, the gyspy vanner. "Hey Anne, that mare looks like Star." She said as Delia hooked the lead onto her halter and the rest of them. Leading them out and into the barn. Annie nodded her head, although Star wasn't theres. Star was actually a stablehands horse that is boarded at the barns but he's a stallion.
Layla and Annie followed the two girls into the barn and Annie looked around while Layla kept at Delia's side. "Your barn is really nice, so you just have the three right now?" She asked as she walked into the grain room with the two girls as they made up the feeds. She walked around then stood in a place where she wouldn't get in the way.

"yep" crtsyal replied, before elbowing Delia. Delia blushed and smiled before adding."Soon to be four." she told them, barely above a whisper."I rescued her, and she was.. Due to have one when I got her." Crystal smled aprovingly, as she handed her Navajo's bucket and led the way back to Sierra. "Sierra over here, is my barrel racer. sometimes, if she's good I let Delia take her on trails." Delia grinned sheepishly, knowing Cystal was discussing her being good, not the horse. "I hope to get her established in the barrel world, and then I will begin breeding her. Navajo over there, is going to be more of a pleasure rider than a competition horse, as she is a Missouri Foxtrotter. Once I get her proven as well, then I will breed her and train the foals, selling them as trail horses." Delia spoke up softly from behind her. "And.. ANd Secret just likes anything." She whispered, and Crystal nodded. "I have never seen a mare less picky about what you ride her with, she will accept anything as long as you don't get rough."

Layla followed the girls out of the grain room and step along side Annie who had rejoined the girls. Soon to be four. Delia said barely above a whisper.I rescued her, and she was.. Due to have one when I got her. Layla smiled and looked towards the pretty gyspy vanner she thought looked like star. "Oh wow, good deal." Annie said with a laugh trying to ease the tension as it was becoming rather quiet. Layla knew her cousin well enough to know that she would of done the same thing, foal or no foal.
Layla stood next to Annie as they walked over to the other mare, Sierra over here, is my barrel racer. sometimes, if she's good I let Delia take her on trails. Annie smiled as she put a hand out to the mare letting her sniff her before rubbing the mares muzzle and standing back to look towards Crystal. "She's nice looking, isn't she Elle?" Layla nodded her head as she too ran a hand down the pretty buckskins muzzle. "Very," she said before they walked towards the foal. hope to get her established in the barrel world, and then I will begin breeding her. Navajo over there, is going to be more of a pleasure rider than a competition horse, as she is a Missouri Foxtrotter. Once I get her proven as well, then I will breed her and train the foals, selling them as trail horses Annie watched the foal before pursing her lips studying him. Layla noticed her face features and knowing her so well meant that she was deffinately thinking.
"She wouldn't be that bad in barrel, she's got strong hind quarters. It wouldn't hurt to try." She suggested before smiling at Crystal. "Then again, I'm no barrel racing expert." She said as she looked at the foal again then back at the girls. "Although she would be some great trail horse, you know those kind of competitions. She'd make nice foals I'd gladly take one." She laughed a little and Layla smiled but kept quiet. Annie had a habit of speaking her mind and she often screwed it up half the time. Layla smiled and walked over to Delia, And.. ANd Secret just likes anything. She whispered, and Crystal nodded to the girl before she had continued. I have never seen a mare less picky about what you ride her with, she will accept anything as long as you don't get rough. Layla smiled knowing how that was. "Yeah, my little guy is stubborn and all but he could care less what style. She beautiful." She said before looking the pretty pregnant mare over.

Crystal smiled and nodded, watching as Sierra soaked up the attention, glaring as they quit rubbing her."Yeah, It all just depends on what's in her heart when she grows up. I'm not gonna force her to like barrels, I want her to enjoy life to it's fullest." Cystal teased, rubbing the filly's muzzle. Navajo paranced away, her tail in the air as she trotted a small circle in the stall. It was rather large, she was after all only 7 months, and in a large foaling stall. Her steps were very clear and elegant, and anyone who knew horses could tell what breed she was by the gait she was showing."You'll be the first to know when she has a foal for sale." Crystal teased, though she really did mean it. "That's the thing though, she isn't stubborn at all. We are hoping the foal inherits her dispossion, I'd like to get Delia here doing dressage on them." Crystal teased, placing a hand on the girls shoulder as the stood by Secret's stall. The mare had her head out the door, and was eyeing everyone curiously. You could hardly see the mare she was months ago, the knots had long since been removed from her flowing mane and tail, her coat was healthy, and not matted. Her eyes were clear, and alert, and so was her mane." The vet says she could have it any time, so we are keeping a real close watch on her. We don't know if she has ever even had a foal before." Crystal told them, rubbing her other hand along one of Secret's rather large ears. "Thanks.." Delia replied, when they mentioned Secret being beautiful. When she had gotten her, she had been in pretty bad shape. For once, Delia was beginning to feel confident around these strangers, and they dind't feel so much like strangers anymore."Is.. Is it supposed to snow tomorrow?" Delia asked, turning to look at Crystal, who shook her head no."Then.. Can me and Ellie go riding?" She asked hoepfully, looking at Annie too. She knew that both Crystal and Annie had to agree, but she hoped they would.

, It all just depends on what's in her heart when she grows up. I'm not gonna force her to like barrels, I want her to enjoy life to it's fullest. Annie nodded her head in agreement. "You could try jumping as well." Annie said as she watched the rambuncious filly prance around her stall after being rubbed on the head. Layla smiled at the filly, she loved foals they were so cute but they could be stubborn taking it from someone who had to train the most stubborn little foal in the world. You'll be the first to know when she has a foal for sale. Crystal said and Annie laughed along, "I'll be waiting." She said teasingly, That's the thing though, she isn't stubborn at all. We are hoping the foal inherits her dispossion, I'd like to get Delia here doing dressage on them. "Thats a relief," Layla smirked and Annie laughed. "Yeah you've had your share of stubborn foals." She teased her younger cousin before turning back to Crystal.
The girls walked over to Secret's stall looking in at the pregnant Gyspy Vanner. The vet says she could have it any time, so we are keeping a real close watch on her. We don't know if she has ever even had a foal before. Layla sighed and pursed her lips together seeing a ripple come along the mares stomache. "Did the adoption center give you papers? You could always look it up as well, I'm sure theres some bloodline website you could check for any foals under her name." Layla suggested before placing a hand on the mares muzzle.
Thanks.. Delia had replied a little less shyly. Is.. Is it supposed to snow tomorrow? She asked, both Crystal and Annie shook their heads. Then.. Can me and Ellie go riding? Layla looked towards Annie her eyes brighter now. "Oh yeah can we!?" She asked excitedly as she walked next to Delia.

"Perhaps, Like I said,I want her to be happy, and I am not gonna push her too hard to ruin that." Crystal teased, a grin on her face."Wel you have at least a few years to wait." Crystal teased,as she stood looking at the Secret. Delia nodded."Yeah, they gave us some kind of papers, but they were not for registration." Delia told them, carefully wording her sentence. Cystal smiled and laughed a little, nodding her head yes."Only if you behave yourselves. And take good care of Sierra, the vet says she needs a good excercise." Delia laughed, and gave Crystal a hug, grinning from ear to ear as she turned, looking hopefully at Annie. Secret nodded her head, as if she was agreeing as well, which only made Delia laugh more."It will be awhile before I take you on the trails again Secret, that is for sure." Delia hugged the mare's big neck, and Secret laid her head on the girl's shoulder, half closing her eyes in happiness.

Perhaps, Like I said,I want her to be happy, and I am not gonna push her too hard to ruin that. Crystal said and Annie laughed and agreed with her. Well you'll have at least a few years to wait. Annie gave a pretend pout face then cleared it with a smile before looking back up at Secret, the mare rested her head on Delia's shoulders. Layla stood next to the girl and mare her eyes sparkled.
Oh yeah can we!? Layla said after Delia asked. Only if you behave yourselves. And take good care of Sierra, the vet says she needs a good excercise. Then it left it to Annie who smiled perkly and nodded her head. "Sure, you can take Lacey she needs some excerise as well." Annie said and Layla hurried over to give her cousin a quick hug. "Thank you! I wanted to take Lacey out even though Monte's probally gonna need someone to ride him." Annie rolled her eyes knowingly, "Okay I'll ride him tomorrow." She said half stubbornly in a mocking way before checking her watch. "Oh, Elle. We've got to get going, horses need to be fed then we've got to get your registration forms for the show this weekend." Annie said as she looked up at Crystal and Delia before walking over and putting her hand out to shake hands. "It was really nice meeting you two. You can drop by anytime." She said as she pointed down the road, "were Greenridge." She said then pulled her hand back down to her side.

Delia smiled happily, though it faded a little when they said they had to return home. "Now remember, if anything happens, you two are to call one of us, got it?" Crystal teased, keeping her voice in a tone that she knew would remind them of a worried mother. She grinned afterwards, And took Annie's extened hand."It was nice meeting you two as well, and I am very glad to see Delia making such nice friends." Crsytal teased, before nudging Delia to get her to shake hands as well. Delia hung back a second, before stepping forward and hessitantly shaking hands with her."You can stop by anytime too." crystal told them, smiling as she led the way out of the barn, turning all the lights off except for one small one, which just kept the barn from having that eerie darkness. Delia followed slowly, after giving Secret a kiss. She would be back out later, checking the mare as often as she could. She knew she wasn't going to get much sleep for awhile, but it would be worth it when she saw Secret's foal.

Layla smiled and nodded her head after the two older girls replied and she turned to face Delia. A smile on her face revealing rosie dimples. "Today was great, I should make more friends like this more often." She joked before walking up to Delia and opening her arms for a quick hug. Forget shaking hands, I like hugs. She always said and she really did hug everyone. Annie smiled as Crystal shook her hand It was nice meeting you two as well, and I am very glad to see Delia making such nice friends. Layla blushed a little before stepping forward to give Crystal a quick hug as well. You can stop by anytime too. Annie nodded her head, a smile on her own pretty face formed. "Will do, are we going to see you on the Christmas show on the 20th?" She asked as they walked out of the barn towards the cars. Layla was standing next to Annie now putting her scarf around her neck to keep warmth.
"Here's my number." Layla said to Delia as she pulled out a ripped peice of paper from a flyer that was handed out in class earlier that day and took a pen from her pocket. She always kept on in the front pocket. She hurriedly wrote down the numbers and handed it to Delia, "call me when you wake up tomorrow. No doubt I'll be awake before 6:00am Annie's a mean older cousin." She said with a laugh as they came to the jeep cherokee and opened the door. Annie turned her head and frowned jokingly. "I am not!" She protested before opening the door of the car.

Delia blushed shyly, but accepted the hug, giving a small one in return. When Ellie released her, she was still smiling shyly, though she didn't back away. Crystal smiled at the girl and gave her a hug as well."Delia, you can have as many as these as you like." She teased, following them to their car.Delia blushed again, but nodded, happy Crystal liked her friend."I am entering Sierra in the barrel race, It's a shame I don't have anyone for Delia to ride, I would let her ride Sierra as well, but Sierra couldn't handle that many barrel races, she will have enough to worry about in the Expert level." Delia nodded to Ellie, and accepted the piece of paper, slipping it into her pocket."Okay. I get up early too.' She told her, before adding." I usually am up first." She smiled at their joking, and wondered if she would ever feel comfortable joking like that.

Delia, you can have as many as these as you like. Crystal teased Delia and Layla laughed before hopping into the car. I am entering Sierra in the barrel race, It's a shame I don't have anyone for Delia to ride, I would let her ride Sierra as well, but Sierra couldn't handle that many barrel races, she will have enough to worry about in the Expert level. Annie and Layla both looked at one another a smile creased on their faces. Annie decided to speak up first, "you know Layla's got my old Pony Monte; and he knows how to do barrel racing. He's a big pony though and Layla still fits on him so I'm sure Delia would. You can come by before the show and pick him up, besides he could use the fun poor guy hasn't competed this year from a tendon injury but he's better now." Annie said and Layla nodded her head, "yeah he loves it! You should take him Delia!" She said encorougingly before opening the door again and looking towards her.
Okay. I get up early too. Delia said to Layla who smiled back, I usually am up first. Layla gave a shock mock impression as if waking up early was fun. "Wow, I love to sleep in but being up first has never happened." She said jokingly as she sat down on the seat and turned on the car while Annie and Crystal talked.

Crystal smiled and nodded her agreement,"If You want to Delia." She told her, and turned toward the girl, smiling."But who will you ride?" Delia asked, though a hopeful glint was in her eyes. "i don't want to take away your chances.." Delai told her, smiling kindly. You could tell she wanted to accept, but she was a little uncertain about whether she should or not. She grinned as Ellie began talking about sleeping in."I have almost always rose at dawn." She told her, glancing behind her as she heard horses moving around in the barn. A worried look crossed her face, and she quickly waved goodby, hurrying toward the barn to check and make sure Secret was okay.

If You want to Delia. Has said and Annie and Layla looked towards Delia, i don't want to take away your chances. Layla smiled a waved a hand as if it was no big deal. "Its totally fine, beside I'm riding Lacey as well. I'll scratch him, no biggy." She said with a smile, "I'll deffinately be there after my event to watch you guys though. Tomorrow you can try him out around some barrels after our trail ride." She said then looked towards Annie who nodded her head in approval. Layla smiled her dimples deep and rosie as she looked back towards Delia.
Delia had said how she always woke up towards dawn and Layla gave a shocked look then fussed about waking up a little more before the gril excused herself towards the barn where a rumbling of hooves could be heard. Layla thought for a moment then slipped out of the car where Annie and Crystal were still talking after Delia. She tipped toed into the barn not wanting to startle the horses if she walked in after. "Delia?" She called through the slight darkness of the barn.

Crystal smiled her thanks, and watched Delia for a second as she walked back toward the barn. She knew the girl was worried about Secret, and it made it worse when she heard the horses making noises in their stalls. She turned back toward Annie, and smiled to her." Delia really is a good kid, she has had it pretty rough these past few years, I was kinda her only hope. You don't know what it means to me to see her making friends here, especially with a girl like Ellie." Crsyatl told her, before adding."When she came to live with me, she was just so withdrawn..It has taken me weeks to get her more active, so it's a real surprise she really is trying to make friends with Ellie."
Delia slipped into the barn, moving pas both Sierra and Navajo, straight for Secret. The mare was pacing abck and forth in her stall nervously, and Delia slipped in with her, rubbing the mare and speaking in a soothing voice. She looked toward the bucket of feed, and noticed there was still some in it. She looked worridly at the mare, and turned when she heard footsteps."She.. She didn't finish. and she is nervous." Delia told Ellie quickly, gesturing to the feed bucket and the once again pacing mare.

Annie heard noises from the barn, then Delia walked towards it obviously worried. Layla had retreated out of the car and was following behind towards the barn. Delia really is a good kid, she has had it pretty rough these past few years, I was kinda her only hope. You don't know what it means to me to see her making friends here, especially with a girl like Ellie. Crystal said and Annie looked towards her, a smile on her face. "Well, Elle's a good kid too. We've had our ups and downs and all but I think Ellie needs a friend like Delia. After all only two or three of her friends ride but she seems like Delia better." Annie said before Crystal added in, When she came to live with me, she was just so withdrawn..It has taken me weeks to get her more active, so it's a real surprise she really is trying to make friends with Ellie. Annie gave a warm smile before adding something herself. "If you need any help with anything just call. Heres my number, I think Elle gave Delia hers already." She said before getting a sheet of paper and pen out of the car and scribbling down the numbers before ripping it off the sheet and handing it to Delia.
Layla had crept into the barn, her eyes on the gyspy vanner who was weaving in her stall. She.. She didn't finish. and she is nervous.

"i think it's great the two of them met, maybe Ellie can finally be someone Delia can confide in. She keeps everything locked up inside, I know she'd feel better getting it out." Crystal told her, glancing worridly at the barn, in which both the girls had dissapeared into now."If Ellie isn't ready to leave yet, I can always drive her home after dinner, or she can always spend the night." Crystal told her, before adding."Thanks, sometimes Delia can be very hard to understand, that's for sure." Crystal smiled though, and it was clear she cared about the girl.
Delia continued petting the nervous mare, glancing at Elle evey few minutes."Do you think it's.." She didn't finish, as she knew Ellie would know what she meant. She glanced underneath her, and she had a waxy substance on her teats. She was pawing at the soft bedding underneath her, and she half laid down before beginning her pacing again. Delia was really worried now, and she was about to tell Ellie to go get the adults when Secret let out a low whinny, which brought Crystal quickly through the doors, after looking at Annie knowingly. She heard Delia's question, and nodded her head." More likely than not, this is the start of labor for her. This could go on for hours at this stage." Crystal told her softly, standing outside the stall and watching the mare.

(Sorry i had to leave in the morning for school when i made it so i didn't get to what i was going to add ha oh well you seemed to of found a way around it)
i think it's great the two of them met, maybe Ellie can finally be someone Delia can confide in. She keeps everything locked up inside, I know she'd feel better getting it out. Annie nodded her head knowingly, "yeah, and I know somewhere in Elle she probally feels the same. Besides her other friends she doesn't have an actual best friend like I had during school. After all she's moved all her life until she came to me and my parents. Before.. my dad died, then I moved here with her." Annie said her voice lowering a little by talking about her father who had passed away in a trailering accident. Annie gave a smile covering up the sadness that had probally been shown. If Ellie isn't ready to leave yet, I can always drive her home after dinner, or she can always spend the night. Crystal told Annie before adding in Thanks, sometimes Delia can be very hard to understand, that's for sure. Annie sighed before nodding her head, "Well its up to her. It seems like they're making a fuss in the barn." She gave a smile then a loud neigh came from the barn, instinctively Annie hurried up towards the barn where Crystal was too.
Layla gulped as she listened to Delia talk, then opened the stall door and studied the mare. Do you think... Delia had said before the mare made a cry and began to pace again. Layla nodded her head before walking in a pulling back Delia. "Deffinately, but from what I know she has to be left alone. She could roll on you by mistake stay back." She said as she watched the mare pace around just missing Layla's feet. Crystal and Annie hurried into the barn their eyes looking towards the distressed mare. Layla looked towards Annie then towards Crystal but Crystal spoke before she could. More likely than not, this is the start of labor for her. This could go on for hours at this stage. Annie had nodded as she walked up to the stall and held onto Layla's shoulders. "I've got a foaling kit back at the farm, want me to run over real quick and grab it? I'll grab some sleeping backs and a hot water trough as well." Annie said as the mare paced in her stall, "theres time still." She said and Layla looked up towrads her cousin.

Delia nodded, and stepped back, towards the front of the stall where Ellie was standing. "if you like, we'd really appreciate it. Neither of us really have much experience with foals." Crystal told her, smiling enoucagingly at the worried looking Delia. "What about your horses? You said they still needed to be fed." Crystal added, watching Secret closely. Delia was neervously eyeing the mare, glancing at Crystal, Ellie and Annie for guidance as the mare continued pawing the ground, her coat was becoming sweaty, and she was growing more and more nervous.
