Black and pink dread flew over her back. She moved easily to the three beat rythm and patted the horses thick neck. Her pale-olive face fell into the moment as they cantered over the cool snow. Her top was long sleeved, tight and black till it reached her elbows then flared and rippled out behind her as she rode. When the top came to her hips it also flared out over black jodphurs and then short riding boots fitted cleanly in the stirrups.
Good boy Starbuck, you doing fine..
She murmured to the black gypsy vanner, a stallion. The only whiteness was a white star on his forehead. His soft silken feathers flowed to the beat as his hooves pounded the ground. Thick eye lined eyes looked around, their almost black pools admiring the scenery. This was a nice place, she concluded.

The hide of a beautiful bay flew pas the trails its rider was a young women, her long blonde hair was tucked back into a bun on her neck, her helmet fitted on her head. Her blue and white jacket, a pair of skin tight jeans, some half chaps with boots were the clothing on her back. Her hands were secured by warm riding gloves as she went to the rythm of the cantering stallion. She soothed him as she praised his effort and brought him back down to a trot and paced him as they made their way down the path.
"Nice job big guy, this spring you'll do amazing in the training event."
She said as she patted his neck effectionetly his breathing was labored but not to deep that it was serious she let him walk cooling him down. His dam neck felt good on her tingling fingers. The park was always a good place to go when it was winter, there were no locals around to stop the horses and riders that passed after going through the trails into the park. The riding police were practically the only horse and riders during the warmer seasons and this time of day was perfect for the two to get out and spend some times other than at the farm.

The vixen looked up and peered into the distance. Someone was coming with a bay horse, it looked like. Suddenly Starbuck starting fighting the bit and flattening his ears. He probably sensed something about the horse, the rider and companion came closer. A Starbuck got more weary.
Hush boy, what's wrong?
The girl murmured, swinging her leg over and sliding off the gypsy vanner. She put the reins over his head and firmly held them. She began to stroke his face and murmur words in a whisper. The stallion immediately began to calm and she patted his shoulder. Hearing the hoof beats of the figures she saw clop up behind her.

Annie didn't realize the horse and rider before her since they were quite a distance away and she figured many came along these paths at time. But Apollo grunted and stamped his hooves louder againest the path his tail flicking back and forth iritatedly as he whickered to the horse and rider ahead.
"Easy buddie, your okay."
Annie said as she bent down from the saddle and cooed encorouging words to the bay stallion. As they came up closer to the horse and rider and whickered once more and skidded to the side of the path where they were. Oh know you don't. She thought as she hurriedly made the stallion go to the other side of the path as he despertly whickered to the horse and rider. What was getting into him? She held the reins in both hands then finally got the stallion to stop. They were feet away from the horse and rider now and she swung her leg over the english saddle dismounting onto the ground and taking the reins with her hands now. She came to the side of the big bay and began to massage along his face making his tence muscles relax.
"Good boy. I'm so sorry he doesn't act like that around other horses."
Annie turned to the girl and horse the large gypsy vanner as irritated as well and she gave a sympathetic look to the girl knowing that if she hadn't of acted fast Apollo ran the girl right over and hurt the horse and himself in the process.

The girl could hear commotion behind her, she looked back and watched in a slight shock as the quick thinking rider managed to get her horse under control. Starbuck rolled his eyes behind her and tugged at the reins. She immediately went back to murmring and soothing him. He was generally behaved, it was just this time he was being a royal prick. Good boy. I'm so sorry he doesn't act like that around other horses. She nodded, then turned and Starbuck busied himself into playing with her dreads by flopping them and letting them go.
He's a stallion, it's natural instinct to fight to the death.
She said, pointing at the now calmed horses genitals. She was lucky Starbuck liked her enough to behave. If he wanted his weight could pull her away and put up a dangerous fight with the other stallion.
I'm Vania. She smiled, her pentagram dangling around her neck while her lip piercing shone.

Apollo soon calmned down and nuzzled her shoulder as she stopped massaging his face with her hands. She turned to the other girl keeping a distance as her young stallion still was a bit wary of the other one. He's a stallion, it's natural instinct to fight to the death. Annie nodded knowingly she often had to deal with her tempermentive stallions in her barn when they would get out of hand. I'm Vania. The girl said as she looked back at Annie.
Annie smiled and nodded her head again, "I'm Annie, and this is Apollo." She said referring to the bay who now was settled down and playing with the snow of a pine trees branch. He whickered again letting everyone know he was there. She laughed and put her hand playfully over his nose then releasing it.

Vania's top now hung down softly, the drape at the back reaching her knees and the front shorter going only half way down the top of her legs. Starbuck nudged her back, she brushed him away and he continued playing with her hair. I'm Annie, and this is Apollo. Vania nodded, watching as Apollo nickered. Starbuck nickered back, then took a step forward.
Careful boy! Vania exclaimed as he pushed her forward too. She looked back at Annie, playing with her stallion. He's beautiful... She said thoughtfully. Not knowing what to say now as she was quite a stand off-ish person.

Annie smiled up at the bay then turned to the gyspy vanner and Vania. She looked the beautiful horse over as he was fully black which seemed rare for the breed although you could totally tell he was a Gyspy vanner. She watched as the stallion nickered back to the calling of Apollo then take a step forward bumping into Vania. She laughed as he nudged her back. Then looking towards Apollo. He's beautiful... Vania said as she looked towards Apollo again.
"Thank you, so is your horse he georgous. Whats his name?"
She asked with interest as she had only seen a couple of the gyspy vanner in real life and hadn't it was only in the showing circuit. They were beauitful animals though and he was perfectly groomed with a loving owner and all he wanted was with her. She smiled as she looked towards the black. Snow began to fall and Annie patted Apollo as he sniffed at the ground.

Snow began to lightly coat the ground fresh. Stunned, Starbuck stuck out his tongue, snorting every few minutes. Vania laughed and Star put his head over her right shoulder. She put her right arm up and patted the other side of his neck, softly caressing his velvety ears while he fluttered his eyes and dozed. Over time the vanner faded into a dark brown until he had his spring coat. Then it would fade until he had his winter coat. Although his winter coat stayed much darker since not much sun was around. Thank you, so is your horse he georgous. Whats his name? Vania smiled and Starbuck nickered, as if to say, Gosh you haven't even introduced me yet! Well, that was what she thought.
This lovely boy is called Starbuck. He was a gift to me and I was extremely surprise when he was black seeing as his dam and sire were both piebald.
She said, now getting more comfortable with Annie. Her left wrist was exposed, so you could see the tattoo of a tree with a sun on the left and a moon on the right while a pentagram was engraved into the bark.

Apollo seemed to know that the compliment was towards the black and he nickered lightly then snorted loudly as he began to flutter with Annie hair then lay his head on her shoulder. She laughed as he nudged her and she stepped for then came back to his side holding his finely bred head in her arms. His eyes glowed with compasion for his owner as she massaged around his auds then down his face till it came to his muzzle. This lovely boy is called Starbuck. He was a gift to me and I was extremely surprise when he was black seeing as his dam and sire were both piebald. Vania said as she patted the stallions neck.
"So am I, is a rare to have a black coat on a gyspy vanner? I've never seen any quite like him before. Although what would I know I'm a eventer so I'm used to the sport horses."
She laughed feeling a bit dumb as she asked the question, it was true though the breed was deffinately not what she'd seen to many times and she was used to the schooling ponies or her warmbloods and sport horses more than one of the draft breeds. Although looking at the handsome steed it wouldn't be such a bad idea to think of getting one.

Vania watched in interest as Annie did her massaging thing again. It looked like something her Aunty used to do. It was called....t-touch she thought. Her Aunty had read it in a fiction book, even though it was just a story she tried it anyway and found it had worked. Suddenly Stabuck nudged her again, what about me? She saw the attention seeking look within his chocolate eyes. So am I, is a rare to have a black coat on a gyspy vanner? I've never seen any quite like him before. Although what would I know I'm a eventer so I'm used to the sport horses.
Yes it is, you most likely to see them in piebald or skewbald. I have seen a few paliminos though....they were made with friesians, a pony which i forgot, clydesdale and something else...
She said thoughtfully, silently cursing herself for forgetting such a thing at this very time. Star pulled at the reins, she loosened them as he attempted to graze through the bit. Silly... She said and pulled his head up, she quicly untied the reins, untied the bit and teid the reins to the bridle itself to act as a dummy halter so Star could graze. He stood their contentedly, been through all this before and then ducked his head down to snuffle at the snow and finally graze through the cool ice.

Annie looked up from her work as the bay was now calm and was happily looking around the spot, his muzzle was playfully licking up the snow that lay on the ground. Yes it is, you most likely to see them in piebald or skewbald. I have seen a few paliminos though....they were made with friesians, a pony which i forgot, clydesdale and something else... Annie looked towards Vania and nodded then rubbed Apollo's neck as she listened to what the girl was saying. When she finished she looked towards the black stallion her eyes fixed on his masive figure.
"I never knew that, thats amazing."
The snow began to fall down heavily now her eyelashes fluttered as the snow clumped ontop of her hair making icicles on her blonde hair. She looked towards the sky seeing large snow clouds ahead. Her farm was down the road and they could possibly walked down there until the snow cleared.
"Looks like a snow storm is coming our way, my farm is down the road. Do you want to come and we could get the horses settled in the barns and talk some more until the snow is enough to get back to your own?"
She asked Vania as she slipped the reins over Apollo's neck and pulled down her stirrups to mount up again. If Vania didn't want to come it was fine with her, she knew that there were other horses at her farm that needed to be brought in before the storm and if they weren't taken cared for properly she would deffinately not be getting any mores training horses, or boarders anytime soon. Besides she didn't want the poor things out in the snow the whole time.

I never knew that, that's amazing. Vania heard before Stabuck snorted and lifted his head. Slowly, little by little, snow began to trickle down. Vania had barely looked up when Starbuck whinnied and tossed his head at the falling ice. Vania pulled his head back down and started piecing the bit back together. She had almost finished when she heard Annie talk again. Looks like a snow storm is coming our way, my farm is down the road. Do you want to come and we could get the horses settled in the barns and talk some more until the snow is enough to get back to your own? Vania snorted as she finished the bridle.
My own what? At the moment poor Starbuck here has been spending the nights in a float and days tied up to the float. We haven't really sorted a place to board him yet...
She smiled in embarrassment. The dark pools of her eyes watching the stirrups as she ran then down and lead Star over to a log where she could climb up. She flicked the reins over his head and lead him to the log, then she climbed on it and popped on the stallions back before he could protest. After a few head tosses and side stepping Vania had controlled him and kept the reins firm on his mouth.
I never mount from the ground, we found a horse with an injured back one time...nothing happened to him in the past and soon we found that mounting from the ground pulls the saddle to one side. Which also pulls the spine. It stuffs up your horses back ya know. I'll never forget that drowsy old coot. She said, smiling and blinking back what seemed to be a couple of tears.
Sure I'll come with you though, my floats parked down the road somewhere so I can easily walk back and pick it up.

My own what? At the moment poor Starbuck here has been spending the nights in a float and days tied up to the float. We haven't really sorted a place to board him yet... Vania began to peice back together the bit that had once been placed in the gyspy vanners sturdy mouth, then as she finished she put it back in the horses maw. Annie had mounted as she adjusted her stirrups and gathered her reins then shifting in the saddle to make the horse more comfortable. The only movement that came from the horse was that of his breathing sides and auds that twitched back and forth listening for instruction. Annie felt bad seeing that they didn't have a place to live quite yet and she had a idea.
I never mount from the ground, we found a horse with an injured back one time...nothing happened to him in the past and soon we found that mounting from the ground pulls the saddle to one side. Which also pulls the spine. It stuffs up your horses back ya know. I'll never forget that drowsy old coot Annie looked uneasily at her hands not knowing what to say for a minute, she had always learned that you could mount from the ground or mounting block and all the horses seemed fine. She looked towards Vania who probally thought she was so cruel to have done such a thing as hurt a horse in the near future but how was she really to know that.
Sure I'll come with you though, my floats parked down the road somewhere so I can easily walk back and pick it up. Annie nodded her head glad that she hadn't said anything further on the mounting issue. She still kept a good hold on the reins so that the two stallions wouldn't get even more aggresive riding along side each other but now that he knew Starbuck he was settled in and listening intently as they two girls conversed.
"You know you could let Starbuck stay for as long as you want until you find board someplace. I have a boarding farm that maybe you could work off board for working as a stable hand or groom?"
Annie said as she lifted her hands up and cued the bay to walk. He obediently listened and lowered his head twirling his auds around when he heard her voice.

Vania watched carefully as Annie suddenly looked uncomfortable and even abit guilty when she mentioned the mounting. She quickly gasped and felt her pale skin grow a blush as she quickly signalled Starbuck to trot and then fell back into a walk when she caught up with Annie.
I wasn't aiming it to make you feel guilty though, I just thought you wanted to know why I lead him over to the log like that.
She murmured quickly, patting Starbuck. Then she heard what Annie said, while controlling her beloved steed without effort. You know you could let Starbuck stay for as long as you want until you find board someplace. I have a boarding farm that maybe you could work off board for working as a stable hand or groom? Vania gasped and stood up in her stirrups, but quickly sat back down again.
I would love to! Plus you could just minus the board before I get payed! Ah...not that getting payed is all I think about. I'm really only wanting a good life for my strong boy here.
Vania rubbed at the strong horses neck. He's had enough hard time for now, and think of all the Witchcraft items I could get!! She smiled as the snow stuck to her hair and made her look like the ice queen.

Annie noticed the Vania feel unconfortable as well as she quickly reversered her words. Annie nodded her head though as if nothing had happened to make her feel guilty. I wasn't aiming it to make you feel guilty though, I just thought you wanted to know why I lead him over to the log like that. Annie waved her hand and smiled gesturing for Vania not to worry.
"Its fine, I guess I just felt stupid for a minute not to know such a thing. Really its no big deal, so you will take the job?"
Annie said as she pulled back on the reins lightly and sat deeper letting Vania and Starbuck catch up before letting him walk his normal pace. I would love to! Plus you could just minus the board before I get payed! Ah...not that getting payed is all I think about. I'm really only wanting a good life for my strong boy here. Annie smiled once more looking to Vania then back ahead as Apollo's auds listened to them twirling back and forth but now calm as Annie sat on his back and didn't mind walking beside the larger gyspy vanner.
"Alright then its settled! When we get to my stable we can talk more about it, its just a mile down or so won't take long."
Annie said as she let the reins slide out of her hands then cuffed them over her mouth breathing heavy breaths in them, warming her delicate hands then gathering the slack before Apollo could have the chance of spooking at something.

Vania smiled, glad that the reply was positive before she said her bit. Then of course, as she slackened the reins on Starbuck, Annie talked again. Alright then its settled! When we get to my stable we can talk more about it, its just a mile down or so won't take long. She nodded, as Starbuck realised they reins had been given to him and he started to edge sideways a little.
Oh no you don't.
Vania said as she tightened the reins again and Starbuck nickered in defeat. She smiled and loosened them again, this time her edged slower, again she pulled them tight and he nickered in dismay.
That's great though! I can't believe I've finally got something to live off!! She laughed.
Then, yet again she slackened the reins, but this time Star walked completely the same and nickered happily. She patted him, giving him a thorough praise.
Good boy! She murmured, And that's how I'm teaching him at the moment to be good with no contact. She said, giving Annie a wink.

Annie smiled as she slackened her own reins alowing Apollo to have his head freely, the young stallion simply made his strides longer since he was trained in long rein classes as well for events. Although as the stallion edged closer to him he through up his head and snorted making it known as he swivled his auds backwards warning the other stallion to stay back.
"Oh quit it, you aren't tough."
She laughed as she tightened the reins and edged him away from the other stallion, he snorted again then settled. Star began to edge once more closer and he once again planted his auds back and swiveled his tail, Annie laughed as she tightened the reins making Apollo through up his head in defeat then lower his head knowing he wouldn't win when it came to Annie. She smiled then patted his neck. That's great though! I can't believe I've finally got something to live off!! Vania replied as she corrected Star. Good boy! She murmed to the horse as he listened to her aids. And that's how I'm teaching him at the moment to be good with no contact. Annie nodded her head interested as she thought of the tecniques she had been taught that were different and also the same as her own in ways.
"My farm is right up here, we just need to cross the road and its the large yellow farm house with a sign and stone wall."
She said as she loosened the reins and stopped at the edge of the road, she looked both ways as the snow began to fall and she motioned for Vania to follow as she walked Apollo across the road. Usually around this time most vehicles wouldn't be out and it was safe to cross.

Vania didn't pay too close attention to Apollo as how Starbuck was edging his own way to annoy the other stallion. But she needn't worry as Annia controlled the horse perfectly and Vania was simply teaching her own to behave. My farm is right up here, we just need to cross the road and its the large yellow farm house with a sign and stone wall. She nodded, falling in behind Annie but to the left so Apollo didn't get any fighting ideas.
I'll have to use one of your blankets though, my stuff is back there.
She called ahead to get her words over the sound of the wind begining to howl. If Annia didn't hear Vania jerked her thumb back to where in the distance you could see a ute and a float parked under the shelter of a thick trunked tree.
[[should we carry on at the farm??]]
