The sound of a screen came into hearing as a young girl walked outside, a golden retriever at her heels at a brisk trot beside the petite girl. The girls brunette locks were lifted up into a messy bun, her normal riding outfit some jeans from american eagle, a cute but not to dressy t-shirt her riding chaps and her helmet in one hand. Layla's green eyes looked towards the main barn as a light was turned on in the isle and many horse heads came out of their half stall doors. A women a a couple years older than the 15 year old Layla swung some buckets onto her hip as she began to dump the early morning grains. It was around 5:00am in the morning and it was still dark out with a dark fog that covered over the falling snow. Snow was drawn over the rolling hills of Greenridge Acres in Kentucky. The blue grass was covered in snow and was litterly up to her knees as she walked the shoveled out walk way to the barns. The gravel driveway and parking lot were covered in a inch of snow that had set over night but would probally be plowed out later that day.
Hunter barked as he saw Annie in the distance and ran towards the main barn where he began to greet the horses that were now scarfing down their breakfast. The soft munching of them eating up the grain could be heard as she finally entered the wide front rolling doors at the entrance and swung them fully opened. Annie walked out of the office with some letters in her hand, her beautiful blonde hair was down and it looked as though she was already to get going. She had college classes later on today around 12:00pm and Layla had to get going before she'd miss the bus at 6:45am then when she got back around 1:30pm she would have to get going on riding and then homework. She hoped it might be a snow day today as she hadn't watched the news yet and usually Annie would let her know since there was a tv in her office.
Hey Elle, its another snow day today. The school called and said that they put all the homework for the day on the website so you have to get that done though.
Annie said as she walked out bundle up in her warm barn jacket. Her ears were covered with her headband/earmuffs some gloves and a scarf were on her as well. She also wore the usual jeans and half chaps like everyday. For a minute Layla seemed to zone out as she watched Monte her bucksin gelding pony munch on his hay finished with his food already. No surprise. She looked on with no reason really just kind of staring off into the distance until finally the fact that Annie was talking to her dawned on her.
Oh sorry, okay maybe could I go for a ride then do my homework later Anne?
She said mockingly almost as she began to walk towards Monte's stall and the gelding walked over to the girls shoulder, nuzzling her kindly. His warm and hay scented breathe came upon her face as she blew in and out breathing the cold fresh air that overwhelmed the town. She smiled and rubbed his nose closing her eyes as she took in the time of him gradually trusting her. Annie nodded her head signaling that Layla could ride.
You could call up Brooke and ask if she wants to take one of her horses for a trail ride with you later. She should be here soon anyways to take care of them. Brooke; was the boarder at the barn she had two beautiful horses that she boarded here Emerald and Cooper. Cooper was a handsome palomino gelding and Emerald was a pretty mare. They had only been here for a week or so but they had already seemed to settle into their new home. Annie had now walked away to her own handsome bay young stallion Apollo who was Monte's pasture buddy.
If she shows up then yeah, but if she doesn't and she comes later just let her no i'm on a trail or something. I'm going to bring out Em, and Cooper for Brooke though okay? Layla said as she walked off to the other geldings stall to find his halter and lead then lead him off into his own pasture with Emerald.
Alright, I'll take Apollo and Monte then. Don't forget to clean his stall before you go out though. I think Keith might stop by later. Annie said before she walked off into the office to look over some papers then possibly come back to bring the horses out. Layla nodded her head then walked into Cooper's stall.

Why? Why was he new? He hated it, absolutely loathed it. To him, absolutely nothing about being new to a place was positive. Angrily, he grabbed the emergency brake of truck, the engine already off and the trailer already lurching, undoubtedly from the restless horses. He paused a second before opening the door to the cab, anticipating the blast of cold air from outside.
Snow blanketed the ground, a low fog hovering above the ground. With an unusually hard jolt to the car, he swore under his breath and climbed out, eyes shifting warily about as he traveled to the back of the trailer.
'Manny first' he decided to himself.
He could see signs of life within the barn, but it was early, and the sun hadn't risen over the trees yet. Turning his attention back to the trailer he threw open the latch, hauling the door open with icy hands. He wore thick gloves, but he still shook, his thin, pale body not well equipped to deal with the cold.
Manny roared in protest and pulled in irritation at the leadrope, backing repeatedly into the buttbar. He eyed Tim with severity, nostrils flaring and sweat soaking his coat, even in the freezing air. Tim sighed and untied the leadrope, lowering the ramp, and carefully, quickly releasing the buttbar. He scrambled back, expecting the backward rush that was to come. And come it did. Manny bolted in reverse, rearing just shy of the back of the trailer. Tim held the lead with a loop in it, but rolled his eyes. Drama King.
Manny dropped back to all fours and then proceeded to survey the area, as if nothing extraordinary or disruptive had happened at all. Tim pulled him towards the barn, groaning as Manny pranced alongside. They entered the hall with reasonable composure. Manny still frisked about, and Tim searched around for some direction to a stall. This quiet state of mind was temporary with the stallion.

Annie swung open the half stall door of the large bay stallion. Apollo nickered as she walked over to Annie his large sport horse head rubbed againest her shoulder as he nuzzled it and breathed in warm horse breathe. She smiled rubbing the stallions forehead tracing his markings as she slipped on his leather halter. She secured his blanket and hooked his leadrope on before open the door again and leading the large bay up. She was expecting a new boarder today, with three horses. Two stallions and one gelding they were coming around this time so she was all ears for a car to pull in. Mostly the sound of cars pulling up were stable hands or other boarders and she kept an eye in the gravel parking lot that would make even more noise because of the snow.
It was early and she rubbed her eyes as she lead Apollo over to Monte's stallion and opened the geldings stall. The bucksin nickered to his pasture buddie as he walked over allowing Annie to put on his halter and lead. She looked over his blanket making sure everything was good then lead him out closing the doors behind her. She led them through the isle walking past the 20 horse stall barn and when she came towards the end two apple trees gaited the path to pastures on the left and to the right. On her left was the stallion barn which lead to the stallions and some gelding pastures. To her right was the mares, foals, and boarders turn out also where training, lesson ponies and so forth went as well.
The sound of wheels scurried up the drive and through the stone gait, a truck and trailer came up and pulled into the parking lot. Annie stopped the horses looking after the truck as a man jumped out and opened the trailer, then lead a handsome stallion out of the back of the trailer. The horse pranced as it made its way over with his owner, the man didn't look to happy as he walked to the barn. Annie looked towards Layla and signaled her to grab the horses. Apollo pinned his ears as he saw another stallion and snorted loudly, his nostrils pink. While Monte perked his own and nickered a greeting. Layla scurried over to the horses and took them from Annie then lead to the pastures on the left.
Seconds later Annie was in her office watching as horse and owner walked into the isles. She stepped out of the office, and shut off the lights. The glass window in the middle of the isle turned black as she closed and locked the office behind her then put the key in her pocket. She walked over to The man and his stallion.
"Hey, I'm Annie welcome to Greenridge. Your horses go in the back three stalls."
She said leading the way to the back couple of stalls on the left side of the barn. That meant one full isle was taken up now and she would need the other 10 stalls on the other side to be filled until it was time to start moving the stallions in their own barn and the mares in their own barn. She walked up to the 7th stall next to Enigma a small new roan colt who peeked his eyes through half door sneaking a peak of the larger stallion. He squealed and pranced to the back of his stall. Annie stopped at the 8th stall knowing that the stallion and colt should be apart from one another.
"Here it is."
She said as she pointed to the roomy in and out 12 x 12 stall. It was nice and roomy perfect for a large stallion like his. She tucked back a strand of her hair and put her hands in her pocket. The chilliness of the day getting to her hands quicker than she thought. I should really think about getting a pair of normal gloves.

[[I'm assuming this is after the restaurant, I can edit it later if otherwise ;] ]]
Manny, always protective and aggressive, scented the other stallion, and strained against the gold chain wrapped around his nose. Tim turned him in a circle, asking him to back down the hall to occupy his mind. But to no avail, and his eyes never left the other stallion.
Tim ran a soothing hand on his neck, knowing the battle couldn't be won. Unwillingly, Manny eventually following him down the hall when the other male was out of sight. A colt whickered to him, and he spooked, eyes wide and curious, his nose flaring, taking in his scent. He was exceedingly gentle with young horses, but rather ornery with larger, older horses.
He nickered back, bright eyes and extended nose friendly and inviting. Tim knew his mood was very unstable because of past experience, and reluctantly, he gently pulled him away from the door.
"Hey, thanks. I'm sure the other two won't be such a hassle." he said, laughing slightly, his soft, melodic voice rising and falling. He unwound the gold chain from around Manny's leather halter, and gave him a hearty slap on the behind, sending Manny bouncing with a lofty gait into the stall.
He shut the door gently, and Manny stuck his head up, gazing at them through the bars. His attention was quickly absorbed by the hay laying at his feet, and he munched happily to warm himself.
"That stallion is yours, I presume? He's a beaut." he noted, gazing out after the horses.

Annie watched as the once aggresive stallion turned to his sensitive side and titlted his largely built head to meet the small head of Eni, she smiled as he nickered back to him and Enigma squealed and snorted loudly. He was deffinately a character, Brooke was lucky to have him. Freckles the other colt across from the other horses in the 2nd to last stall next to the wash stall whickered a greeting as well. The two were stuck inside until all the other horses were out then they'd be put out together in the front pasture to keep an eye on. Hey, thanks. I'm sure the other two won't be such a hassle.
"Oh he's nothing compared to some of the characters that come in here."
Annie laughed as she watched him unravel the chain and let the stallion into his stall. The half stall door didn't seem like an option to him as he looked through the bars next to it. She studied him for a moment looking at his size, his breeding and such. The stallion soon found them boring and was excited to see the flake of hay in the stall. He began to munch happily on it as he snorted with pleasure like any horse would. "That stallion is yours, I presume? He's a beaut. Tim said as he looked after the horses being led out of their stalls. She nodded her head pursing her lips together and keeping her hands in her pocket.
"Yup, Apollo he's my new event horse got him last year."
She said as leaned back on her tall boots and felt a cold draft from behind her. I've really got to go get a new winter jacket somewhere downtown. She thought as she pulled her hands out of her pocket and raised the to pull up the collar of her coat she had on now and sinking her head in a little. The office was heated and she desperetly wanted the warmth inside.
"Need a hand with the two other ones?"
She said changing the subject as she began to walk down the isle and put a hand on one of the boarders who snorted loudly as he waited to be led out. Layla was busy leading the others down the end out as she walked by then took a quick glance at Tim.

Tim laughed a bit, 'Nothing like some of the characters? She hasn't seen the half of him', he thought. He dipped his right hand into a pocket in his pants, appeared to search for something, then withdrew it. Softly her murmered Manny's name, and the big stallion's head shot up, his big, curious eyes searching Tim over. He rubbed the hand that was in his pocket over the area between the stallion's nostrils, his skin taking on an oily look.
His nostrils flared, and his head was thrown back in a flehmen, taking in whatever was on his nose. Tim laughed openly now, his smooth tenor voice ringing through the quiet of the halls. Manny shook his head, large ebony eyes dancing in the same fashion that Tim's sometimes did.
He nodded in response to her, looking at the array of impatient horses waiting to go outside. 'Just like Capricio...' he thought. He noticed her shivering, and his mouth twisted into one corner, his eyebrows drawn.
"Hey, I've got some of my sister's outgrown winter clothes in the trailer's tackroom, if you'd like. They should be about your size." he offered, his blue eyes somehow darker, more icy now. He saw the colts who whickered to his huge stallion, and he smiled; he loved the young horses as much as Manny. He'd never raised a horse from birth, but one day Manny, if not Hale would produce at least one wonderful foal. It was a matter of finding a well-bred, shown, and conformed mare. The trailer squeaked in protest, and Tim's attention was turned to the end of the hall, where Hale was now whinnying in boredom.
"And I'd be delighted for you to help." he said, his lop-sided smile returning.

Annie watched as the stallion and Tim played for a moment then as if he had realised Annie was still there Tim looked back at her as they walked down the isle. Her shivering had stopped somewhat but since there was a hole in her sleeve and other little places that had grown warn over the years it was a bit chilly, but she would live. Freckles nickered down the isle his small muzzle almost reaching over the dutch door but only could lay his muzzle on the top. He snorted loudly as his little eyes followed Annie and Tim down the isle. She smiled back at the foal keeping an eye on them as he stared catiously at the older stallion.
Hey, I've got some of my sister's outgrown winter clothes in the trailer's tackroom, if you'd like. They should be about your size. Annie almost said hmm as she was out of it then realised he could see her shivering a little. She raised a hand nationlantly as if it were no big deal.
"Oh no thats alright, I've got to go shopping sometime anyways. Thank you though."
She said almost a little embarresed because he had seen her tattered old barn jacket. Her cheaks were flushed as they walked outside and into the snow. And I'd be delighted for you to help. Tim replied of her earlier comment and she nodded her head. She stepped out into the snow the sound of gravel and snow crunched together under feet as she walked over to Tim's trailer. She stopped by it watching as the noise of horses could be heard and she couldn't wait to see the new arrivals.
(sorry if she's acting sorta blah i have like none muse as of now since i've been doing a lot lately although they look long they seem like crap to me haha)
