This was the first day that Katie was going to ride Rabia. No doubt about it that it was going to be magical. Katie hadn't ridden in so long, and just trained her mare to ride safely. Even though she may have her quirks. Katie pulled herself up onto the leather English Saddle, getting the laced reins in her hands, and the stirrups on her black booted feet. Her parents made the greatest decision by moving to Kentucky; next to Blue Grass park.
Katie just got a job based on her best ability; to calm down, and whisper to horses. She thought about how wonderful her job would be; staring into the horses eyes, calming them, and then gentling her. Rabia got impatient, and threw her head up to look at Katie. Katie smiled at Ribbs and giggled.
"Okay Ribbsie, you get your way."
The young girl and her horse walked down the cobblestone pathways, the clopping sound rung out until the far reaches of the park. Katie's brown dreadlocks bounced off her shoulders as she asked Rabia to trot. Her black suade half-chaps rubbed against the saddle, making Katie feel uncomfortable.
"Woah."
Katie patted Rabia's neck in praise. Rabia just looked at Katie, gnawing on the bit. Katie asked her to walk on, letting the reins slip until the buckles as she stared in awe at the grassy areas around the walk way.

The handsome buckskin gelding snorted loudly as he dished his head into the deep fluffy snow, its cold dense material left a white mustache on his muzzle as he tried to shake it off. Fifteen year old Layla Livaland smiled as she cinched the girth tighter and grabbed the reins, putting a foot into the stirrup and swinging up onto the gelding. The gelding shifted and looked up at his rider his big brown lovable eyes that would make anyone melt to peices if you did anything wrong to him. Layla smiled with a pat on his shoulder blade before she gathered the reins and cued the gelding down the crumpling snow packed long driveway from Greenridge Acres to Bluegrass Park.
The road was slippery and only little things like a random ice patch made the gelding loose his balance for a minute before regaining as he swayed towards the middle of the road more. Luckily there were not that many cars an occasional car on their way to the town or something but nothing bothered them as they walked along peacefully. The snow hadn't started melting yet and the sky still held its big powdered clouds but other than that it was amazing out perfect for running in the snow.
By now Layla knew everything about the small town and knew every little knoock and crany that could be detected for jumping, galloping in the parks and around the wide open fields and trails. Layla lived with her older cousin Anne Bennet that owned Greenridge Acres Farm down the road from the park. She'd lived there for a good amount of years now and loved it, after living with her parents and then being left with her aunt and uncle and cousin had been a big change. Especially when all of a sudden her uncle got into a car accident and died leaving her aunt depressed and selling the farm they had back in Florida. Annie went off to Kentucky buying Greenridge Acres and training the horses and such with her ongoing carrier with the horses from her share of the will from her father. Layla was left with her aunt until she decided she wanted to move with Annie and went to Kentucky.
Alot of things had happened in Layla's life at the young age she was then but it had taught her to grow up over the years and she was deffinately more mature than others but had a certian quality that you wouldn't find in a girl at fifteen very often. Wide open fields of snow covered Bluegrass Park was ahead now and Layla could just make out a figure in the distance which looked like a horse but she couldn't figure out if there was a rider astride the horse. Monte pricked his auds and twisted his tail pulling at the bit to hurry up and gallop. "Alright, alright give me a sec Monte." She said as she gathered the reins and let loose of them for a minute before gathering them up again as the buckskin gelding took of in a easy going canter.
