I sat in the drivers seat of my white and black trimmed jeep cherokee. My shoulder lengthed banana curled blonde hair was pulled back into a high messed up bun as I listened to my favorite country song on the radio. The trailer in the back of my jeep rattled a little making the jeep sway, I knew that Legacy was probally moving around trying to get to the other hay net on the other side that was for trailering the ponies over to the show grounds this weekend. I looked in my rear view mirror just in case and saw the mares black and white dashed muzzle sticking out of the window in the trailer. I smiled and looked forward again, now I saw the parking lot for the Sycamore Trails. The snow had covered the grounds but it was freshly plowed so hikers or riders could easily manuver getting in. The path how ever as I could see was white powdered with tracks of animals and hoofprints on the ground. No doubt the hikers and trail bikers weren't out this time so it was perfect to bring a horse for a hack.
I steadily drove into the dirt and snow covered lot and parked the trailer in a easy spot so that I could get out later on. I had put a blanket on Legacy so she could keep warmth white traveling even though it was only minutes down the road from Greenridge Acres where I live and own a nice facility for eventing. I turned off the engine of my car and hopped out feeling the chill of winter crawl up my spine. Though the smell of woods, and wood burning stoves came to my nostrils and made it all to heavenly. I opened the back seat of my car and grabbed my riding gloves that I had left there from the other day and walked over to the white sundowner trailer. The lable on the side read the farms name and a picture of a dressage, show jumping, and cross country symbol on it.
From inside the trailer and shrill whinny echoed out and I quickly opened the door. My beautiful black thoroughbred mare snorted loudly as she turned her head out the side door. Her eyes wide and her pretty elegant auds pricked forward as she seached her new surroundings. She nickered loudly until she only got her voice back and I smiled up at her and ran one of my slender fingers down her white stripe down to her snip on the end that made only half her muzzle white and pink. Legacy pawed the ground excitedly and I sternly told her to stop it before I went into the changing and tack compartment of the trailer and dragged out my helmet and Legacy's bridle. I had already put her tack on at the farm before I left to save time, and it was fine to leave it on as I was only minutes down the road.
Minutes later I had mounted up on Legacy from a falled log before the path and let the broodmare walk along the path her head was high up probally remembering her days as a champion eventer as she spotted jump after jump along the path but was not allowed to jump them. She sighed almost everytime I had brought her around the log or brush that came into path. I couldn't let her jump them, after all it was for a relaxing ride with my old friend and she was pregnant with her fourth foal so I didn't want to injur the young colt or filly inside. It was fine to ride the mare until she had shown some stomache growth so I decided to take her out on one of our last rides of the year.
I had brought my blonde hair down to a low bun before I had put my helmet on and the prickles of the ends felt awkardly peircing againest my flesh as it brought in cold air. I had my gloves on my hands but I could tell they weren't helping like they would if I was moving more. A earmuff headband was displayed on my ears to cover them from the cold and they were doing a better job at keeping the warmth in me then the gloves. Legacy wore baby blue wraps on her legs to keep warmth cause I know if we were only walking and trotting the path it would keep her nice and warm.
